Joe has over 10 years experience teaching music in a multitude of settings and all levels , styles, and types of students -- from children and adults trying an instrument for the first time, to professionals seeking another perspective on developing their craft.  He teaches saxophone for all levels, and piano, flute, and clarinet for all non-professional levels. He has worked as a private lesson tutor; master-class guest clinician; after-school program instructor; and even once as a summer camp director for children impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

Each lesson/class by Joe is based both around:

  • discovering the music You love, and ways to understand/play it

  • gaining a complete foundation in the fundamentals of music performance and theory, that apply to all genres and styles

Joe also works toward all additional goals desired by student, parent, teacher, or workshop client:

  • prepare for a big audition

  • learn a favorite song by ear / by reading

  • jazz improvising

  • ear training

  • harmonic theory

  • rhythm concepts

No matter what the topic Joe will help you cultivate a strong and disciplined sense of Practice- aka self-guided Growth, an idea and a skill which can be hugely beneficial to all areas of life, including school, sports, and careers.
